Here we are answering the most common questions. 1- What currency must I use in Cuba? The currency for the tourist use is the Cuban Convertible Peso (CUC), which replaces any other foreign currency. The payment for rental houses, hotels, restaurants, bars, cafeterias, taxis, rent-a-car services, cultural and commercial centers, as well as for the provision of other services to tourists will only be made by means of Convertible Pesos. Since November 8th, 2004, the entities which had been accepting American dollars in cash, when being paid for their transactions, have only been accepting the Cuban Convertible Peso (CUC). The denominations for the Cuban Convertible Peso (CUC) are in 1, 3, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100. There so far two series that are differentiated primarily by the designs on the back of the bills, the 1994 and 2006.
